Since 2004, Sylva Dobalová has been working as a researcher at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Department of Early Modern Art. Her focus is on Renaissance and Baroque gardens in Bohemia, and on the representation of the House of Habsburg in the arts during the Early Modern Period. She is head of the Studia Rudolphina Research Center devoted to the study of the patronage of Emperor Rudolf II. Her most recent project is on "Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria (1529–1595) and his cultural patronage between Prague and Innsbruck", funded by the Czech Science Foundation, 2017–2019.
